Tuesday I hung out at [livejournal.com profile] finari and [livejournal.com profile] narkeys's place. We chatted and goofed around.

Wednesday I went to dinner and watched Serenity (4th time - gotta support the film!) at the Studio Movie Grill with Matt, [livejournal.com profile] finari, [livejournal.com profile] narkeys, Sarah and Kevin. I like that theater, although the two times I've been, the restrooms were a little questionable. But I like the dinner with the movie thing, and I definitely like it on a weeknight. There were only like five couples there (bad for the theater, good for the viewers).

Thursday I chilled out at home with the hubby. He's been fiddling around with the free Lineage II stuff, too, seeing if he can set up a server at our place. Lineage II doesn't really do it for me, though.

Friday was the girls' game. It was awesome as usual, especially since I had a chance to see [livejournal.com profile] tempest_sky. Whee! The story arc is progressing nicely, and I have always really enjoyed Anne's storytelling style. It certainly isn't for everyone, but it really meshes well with this group.

Saturday morning we got rid of the white car... we donated it to a charity based out of Dallas. It'll do someone else a lot more good than us sitting in our driveway unused for a few years. ^_^ Saturday afternoon we went over to Glen & Jeanette's and played some D&D. Surprise, surprise! ^_~ It was fun.

Sunday morning I went to church, but I could feel a cold coming on. So I destroyed it with an eight hour nap, and then Vitamin C and lots of water during my waking hours.

Monday work. Monday evening WoW. And I got to play with an old MMO friend. Whee!!

Tuesday, more work, and again some time over at [livejournal.com profile] finari and [livejournal.com profile] narkeys's place. ^_^

On another note, I'm thinking of dressing up for AKon 2006. My sister is going to do a nifty outfit, too. A friend of mine convinced me that with my coloring I'd be great as Belldandy... We'll see. I've looked through a lot of images and picked up a pattern that I'll be able to alter for the surcoat. I'll need to do a little more research on that, too. Then there's always Robin from Witch Hunter Robin...

Prepping for the con now, so that's it for this week...

I know this is an old article, but [livejournal.com profile] thewolfhound forwarded it to me and it made me *laugh*.

Last Monday was a pretty normal day - a lot of work, then relaxing at home. I spent Tuesday evening with [livejournal.com profile] finari, and enjoyed myself thoroughly. Wednesday my mother-in-law came back from Thailand, so we picked her up at the airport and took her over to our sister-in-law's house, where she stayed until the weekend.

Thursday evening had me hanging out with friends. Friday I had lunch with friends and co-workers, then that evening we played Matt's Phlan game. My character got hit with negative eight Con and six levels. Ouch. Heh. She got 'em back at the end of the game, though.

Saturday (I called you back, [livejournal.com profile] annawick. Did you get my message?) we spent time with the mother-in-law and lunch at Tokyo One. It was her treat as a belated birthday present to Matt. Mmm, sushi! Sunday had us back out at the farm for chores, etc, then Sunday evening we watched first three episodes of Firefly.

I'm still gearing up for GenCon and really starting to feel the pressure. Everyone is pretty stressed here at the shop right now, which makes for a constant low hum of anxiety all around. Ugh.

I had a good time at Anne's game on Friday. I think we're finally getting close to solving the mystery. I suck at mysteries, heh, but [livejournal.com profile] finari was sure on a roll! I'm logging my notes on my husband's site, as well as our LJ community. My goal is to get all my notes up before the next game, although my notes will be only from my character's point of view, so a lot of things will be missing.

Saturday I was at the Faire again, this time just with Kev and Sarah and we went in our normal clothes. I got some small trinkets for Mir, and a little necklace for Mom. Kev and Sarah got lots of garb, Sarah winning the garb-envy award again by picking up Pendragon's french court dress in burgundy and gold.

Yesterday being Mothers' Day, of course I went to my parents' house. Mom called and asked me to stop by Kid's place to see if he needed a ride, so I did. Unfortunately, Aaron was feeling sick and was passed out sleeping, so I just let him sleep. I'm very conscious about not wanting to expose Dad to any kind of illness (not that he won't get exposed as a public school teacher. Hm. Oh, well). Anyway, at Mom and Dad's, it was awesome seeing [livejournal.com profile] annawick and Dave and Lex, and my brother Ian showed up, too, though his wife was in Oklahoma with her own mom. My sibs are cool. I like their spouses, too! I know I've said that before, but I stand by it. ^_~

I dropped the pooch off at the vet this morning so he could get his teeth thoroughly cleaned. They're gonna knock him out. They warned me that when I pick him up this afternoon, he may be kind of groggy and want to sleep, and I couldn't help but think when is my dog not sleepy, aside from his walk time?

I had such guilt yesterday, since the vet told me to take away all his food and water after 8pm. Poor dog kept going back to his water bowl and licking the bowl even though it was dry. I also had to close the bathroom door, because he remembered water was in there, too.

He hates getting weighed, heh. Dunno why, but he is scared to death to step on that black pad. Ah, well. He clocked in at 98.7 lbs. Wonder if I should worry about his food intake? Is there such a thing as a fat greyhound? He doesn't look fat, that's for sure...

Friday night we went to Glen's house and played his D&D game. The political intrigue is getting really interesting, heh. Too bad I'm really horrible at puzzles, but luckily Matt and Bob are good at them, so with their help the group should be able to figure everything out, heh.

Saturday was lazy fun day. Until about 5pm, I lazed around the house, doing pretty much nothing of importance. Then our friend Bob treated us to sushi at Tokyo One. Mmmmmm, sushi!

Saturday evening we started the Star Wars RPG that Matt's been itching to run. [livejournal.com profile] finari and [livejournal.com profile] narkeys are playing (it wouldn't be a game without them!) and me and Bob. Matt, of course, is running. [livejournal.com profile] finari is playing a Scoundrel, [livejournal.com profile] narkeys is a Jedi Guardian, Bob is a Jedi Consular, and I'm playing a wookie (heehee) Force Adept that will become a Soldier (I was going Scout but have since reconsidered) at 3rd level.

The first game was fun. Of course. Matt's games are always fun. Anyway, he started it by passing out a "Crawl." The crawl is the three paragraphs that open every Star Wars movie. He said he's going to prepare a crawl for every "episode," heh.

The Crawl )

I've posted my game notes on Matt's forum. Game notes are fun, heh.

Yesterday at work was crazily busy as normal but the evening was nice and lazy. We went to dinner with the mother-in-law at Buco di Beppo, then spent the rest of the evening vegging since I couldn't log into WoW. I also got to bed earlier than usual, which is good since I still have this stupid cold.

Heh. When [livejournal.com profile] thewolfhound asked me what I wanted to play in his Forgotten Realms D&D campaign, I was unsure. I knew I wanted to play a spell caster but not sure what to actually make.

So, I created a monster. I asked [livejournal.com profile] thewolfhound to twink me out.

The end goal will be a Mystic Theurge out of the DMG. However, where the twinkiness comes in to play are the classes she has before she gets Mystic Theurge at level 12.

She started out with three levels of Paladin, and one level of Favored Soul (we started at 4th level). At level 8, she has Paladin 3, Favored Soul 3, and Sorcerer 2. Favored Soul is found in the Complete Divine, and it is the divine caster's equivalent to the Sorcerer. As an ex-Paladin who maintains her vows, she gets her Charisma modifier to her saves. As both a Sorcerer and Favored Soul, she gets her Charisma modifier to her spell DCs, as well as her spells per day. Heh. I only have to raise my Charisma, which is 22 at level 8.

Anyway, she will never have the versitility of a true cleric or wizard. Her spell list will always be limited, as she has to permanently chose her spells. However, she will never have to actually prepare them and will be able to cast them all on the fly.

Oh, and to make role-play interesting, she's an ex-Paladin and currently Favored Soul of Sune, the goddess of Love, Beauty and Passion. So if the char hist is kind of .... fluffy, that's why. ^_~ Mwahahahahah!

Lessee.... Week updates are kinda hard sometimes, when you're in that day-to-day swing.

Tuesday was my lazy day. The dog training classes were postponed until today, so I stayed at home and played on the 'puter. I've discovered that I still don't really care for computer games, so what I'm going to end up doing is getting the walk-through just so I can watch the story unfold. So I guess it's going to be more like an interactive movie. :P

Wednesday was Matt's VtR game. Much fun. Warning! Gamer nerd talk! Ok, lessee, what is everyone playing? [livejournal.com profile] narkeys is a Ventrue Invictus; [livejournal.com profile] finari is a Daeva Invictus; [livejournal.com profile] dogdoolb is a Mekhet Invictus (Hm. There's a theme there); [livejournal.com profile] sahve is a Mekhet Lancea Sanctum; and my character is a Ventrue Lancea Sanctum. Our game is primarily set in New Orleans, which is the basic setting from the core Requiem book.

Our coterie is called En Passant, and were temporarily in Baton Rouge, which apparently is a town controlled by Belial's Brood. When they attacked us in our hotel, my poor lil vampire hid in the closet. Not only does she not have any physical abilities beyond Resilience, but she has the vice of Sloth. Hehe. Anyway, she only came out when one of her friends got staked (eep!). She pulled the stake out, then spent the rest of the time taking her dice penalty and shot her 9mm. Anyway, the fight was resolved, and we beat feet out of town and back to New Orleans.

Ok, back to normal...

Thursday evening I went from work to [livejournal.com profile] finari's house with the pooch. We had our nice meandering walk (I love those walks), then tried unsuccessfully to log into WoW. Since we couldn't WoW, we watched Grease. Hehe. I forgot how risqué that movie is, heh. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Friday evening, we played D&D up at work in the breakroom. Again much fun was had. It was our friend Bob's birthday, and lo and behold, his character, a paladin, charged the big evil nasty and died. Splat! Happy Birthday! Heh.

Saturday morning, I woke up late and played WoW. Got my hunter to 20. That evening [livejournal.com profile] thewolfhound and I went to a movie. Sunday was nice and relaxed with computer games and videos.

Yesterday, I set some goals for 2005. We'll see how that goes. ^_^ Tonight, dog training class with Taltos!
jaelie: (Default)
Friday night was our all-girl World of Darkness game. [livejournal.com profile] lolafae set up an LJ community for us for the curious:

http://www.livejournal.com/community/wod_collegepark/

I do believe fun was had by all, heh.

Saturday was pretty relaxed. I picked up my dad from the Honda dealership where his van was getting the 150k maintenance. He stayed at my place and we watched Van Helsing and The Day After Tomorrow both of which I enjoyed. Then my sis [livejournal.com profile] annawick and I went to [livejournal.com profile] wyshadara's wedding. It was fun. She looked absolutely beautiful. I also had a great opportunity to visit with some old, dear friends (/wave, John, Dave S, & Ajit).

I also found out from my dad that my brother Chris is getting married the Saturday after Thanksgiving, hehe.

Sunday was nice and relaxing. It usually is, heh. Morning, prepping my Sunday school lesson (yes, I teach Sunday school. Have for years. ^_^ A side of me many never see), Sunday afternoon I relaxed and continued reading Heinlein's Time Enough For Love. Sunday evening we went to Arlington/Grand Prairie for our First Sunday dinner with the family. It is always fun to see the family, and first Sundays is for my immediate family.

Yesterday Matt & I watched The Incredibles, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I can very easily see why it generated such nice opening weekend totals.

In Taltos news, he's starting to feel more comfortable with us. However, he's showing a protective part of his personality that I never expected. He's growled at three different men, and I think perhaps he was feeling protective of either myself or [livejournal.com profile] sahve. She thinks he's getting like this because of the sheer number of new people he's been meeting in such a short time, as he's been with us only eleven days. He knows who his pack is, but everyone else (well all the other males, anyway) is a "stranger."

I think Matt and I may take to leaving him at home a little more often rather than bringing him up to work every day. At least until he's fully adjusted to his new den. ^_^

It's been a busy week since my last very hurried update.

I do indeed have a new nephew. Alexander is the first nephew on my side of the family (Matt has three nephews and two nieces, I now have one of each). He was born at 7.5 pounds and like 20 inches long. He's a cutie. ^_~ My sis is calling him Lex.

Hm. I need to find my digital camera's cable so I can take some pictures of them.

Saturday we had my sister's baby shower. It was small, pretty much only family came. Luckily, Annie was feeling well enough to come, and she brought the little one with her. We sat around and visited (I've never been one for party games. Bleh).

After the shower, [livejournal.com profile] sahve and I went over to [livejournal.com profile] finari's place to make characters for the all-girl World of Darkness game that our friend Anne is going to run. [livejournal.com profile] lolafae and [livejournal.com profile] tempest_sky were already there. We visited, plotted, and otherwise had a fun time creating our characters. This'll be [livejournal.com profile] lolafae's and [livejournal.com profile] tempest_sky's first time to ever play a table-top RPG. They had some really cool ideas for their first characters, though, and I'm fully confident that they'll thoroughly enjoy themselves. Heh.

Lessee. Planned concepts are:
[livejournal.com profile] finari will be a "Street Rat"
[livejournal.com profile] lolafae will be a "Beautiful Leatherwearing Badass"
[livejournal.com profile] sahve will be a "Inventor Tinker Nerd"
[livejournal.com profile] tempest_sky will be a "New Age Wiccan"
My character is a skate punk.

It'll be a crazy fun game, I'm thinking.

Sunday was pretty stereotypical. Church in the afternoon and then a very relaxing evening. Monday evening we went to our friends home the Hendersons and hung out a bit, then went home to play some WoW.

Wednesday evening, our usual crew ([livejournal.com profile] finari and her husband, [livejournal.com profile] dogdoolb, [livejournal.com profile] sahve and I) played VtR. That game is developing nicely, and I'm having a lot of fun. Maybe some day I'll transfer my game notes to my LJ. If I do, though, I'll hide it so people who aren't interested don't get spammed. ^_~

Yesterday I picked up Cheryl at the airport, in preparation for our Artist Conference. All the sculptors and painters are coming in today, I believe, as well as quite a few of the attendees. Although, the attendance is going to be pretty intimate, as it is limited to thirty-five.

It's going to be a really busy weekend. Tonight instead of going to the gathering at work, we're going to our church's social, but tomorrow'll be crazy. Originally, I was planning on going out to the farm to help at the house. I should, since I missed last week, but I forgot about the Artist Conference, and I'll be needed here. Tomorrow, all day, I'll be at the shop. It's going to be really fun, in spite of the work.

We'll have our on-site store open the whole time, and games going non-stop in the store area. The break room will be used primarily for visiting and time-wasting. There will be paint classes in the paint studio and sculpting classes in the RAF hangar, which is a small, mobile unit with AC and two rooms just outside of our main warehouse. We're going to have Lord of the Rings (all three) and Star Wars (4, 5, 6) running all day in the conference room on the projection screen for people who need to rest a bit between classes.

I'm going to have my hands full, but it sure will be fun. The artists will be here till mid/late next week, although the conference portion that has the attendees will end on Sunday. I can't wait to take Sandy & Bobby to the little Thai restaurant. I think they'll really like it. Yum! Thai food!

So anyway, if I'm hard to reach this weekend, that would be why. My cell phone doesn't pick up reception at the shop, so if you need to find me, swing by. ^_~

My friend Shel, who has known me since I was fourteen, invited me to play in her werewolf game that she runs every other Thursday. I was looking forward to it because it's an excellent chance for me to see her aside from our Wednesday lunches. However, now that Anne's game has been indefinitely (likely permanently) canceled, I look forward to it for the additional reason of the fact that I still get to play werewolf. It's a large game, seven players, but Shel is doing a good job of keeping everything under control. I just hope the size of the game doesn't wear on her - I know running larger games is difficult.

Excuse me while I geek out here.... ^_~

Regardless, Thursday evening I had fun role-playing my little Shadow Lord Lupus cub. The group dynamic is interesting: myself (Shadow Lord Lupus Ragabash), a Shadow Lord Metis Theurge, a Silent Strider Lupus Ahroun, a Silent Strider Homid Galliard, an Uktena Homid Ahroun, a Black Fury Homid Ragabash, and a Black Fury Homid Philodox.

I chose to play a lupus primarily because I wanted to play a Shadow Lord but couldn't see that a homid Shadow Lord would necessarily follow a lupus as alpha. Oh, and the player of the Silent Strider Ahroun is an alpha-type personality in real life, which often carries over into games. So anyway, I'm having a fun time with the little lupus. She's very shifty, heh.

Friday night, Matt and I went on a double date to Fogo de Chao. Mmmmm. Meat. I do have to say, that's the best $100 we didn't have to spend. Gogo Gadget Gift Certificate! I love that restaurant. Mmmmm. Meat.

Saturday morning Matt went flying so I got to fiddle around on World of Warcraft. My druid is level 18 now (I know, I'm geeking out again!). She still solos really well but I still prefer to group. If I'm playing a MMOG, I like to actually interact with my fellow MMOGers. ^_^ That evening, we headed out to Justin to play some D&D with friends. Matt DMed and I do believe a good time was had by all.

Ok, back to normal, non-geeky stuff....

Sunday afternoon I drove out to my parents to visit with Rob, Sioux and Kyr. My sis [livejournal.com profile] annawick was there, and she's looking very cute, hehe, even though "the alien" keeps kicking the crap out of her.

Finally, yesterday after work, the family (less [livejournal.com profile] annawick and my bro-in-law) had dinner at Logans. Even Chris and Aaron showed up, and I discovered that they play CoH on Pinnacle, although Chris has a level 20 something on Virtue where I play. I think I may have them convinced to play World of Warcraft when it comes out... I also had a good chance after dinner to really visit with Ian (my brother) and Nikki (his wife). I often forget how lucky I am to have such a cool family.

I've also possibly picked up a new hobby.

Scrapbooking.

Yeah, I know, that sounds just so....suburban.

Whatever. :P

I need to make four photo albums so far: one for my time in Italy, one for Ian with all the pictures he sent me from Micronesia, one for Matt's mom of all the pictures I can find of her and Matt's father, and the last of Matt's childhood. I even have some color schemes in mind.

Mine is set. Black with silver and red tones throughout. Very simple design. I'm certainly not ambitious. I'm about halfway through with the photo journaling. When that's finished, I'll be ready for set up.

For Ian's I was thinking turquoise and, well, sand. The kind of sand that surrounded him while he was in Micronesia, so that really beautiful white sand color.

For my mother-in-law, I was thinking gold and white with orange tones. In Buddhism, gold is representative of wealth but also sacred things, and white, though the thought is somewhat morbid, is their color of death. Orange, of course, is also a sacred color. I think since Matt's father has passed away, that it would be appropriate. I ran the idea by Matt and he agreed.

As for Matt's childhood album, I haven't really given that one much thought. However, after I've finished the other three, maybe I'll have some kind of clue. ^_~

I had a very nice, laid back kind of weekend. On Saturday, I went in to work for a few hours to update all the prices on our inventory. That only took two hours, and I had thought it was going to take about four, so it was a very pleasant surprise.

When I got home, Matt had just awakened and showered and he was planning on heading out to fly his RC plane with what I've nicknamed the Reaper Flying Corps. I thought "Woot! I'll play some DAoC while he's gone!" Except, it didn't quite work out that way. I got totally distracted by my miniatures when I wandered into the TV room where they were set up nicely on my little TV tray. I taught myself how to use the pin vice to pin the pieces of minis together, then I spent the whole day until about 7pm pinning, cleaning, basing, and priming miniatures. I finished prepping about 10 miniatures. Heh. I didn't even get one painted, although I did paint a little.

Matt and I photographed a LOT of our miniatures the other day. Now the next project will be getting them on our site. I have many of my older figures photographed, too. I'll be listing those as well, although in their own folder, so it should be a little more difficult to see them. ;)

About 6pm, Mike appeared, Werewolf books in hand. About an hour later, Paul & Carol came over, and we started working on our characters for Mike's game. Woot! I am in *two* werewolf games now! Anne's runs weekly. I don't know what kind of schedule we'll get on with Mike's, but it should be a lot of fun. On top of that, Matt's planning on finishing my Silent Strider's story once he graduates (this December, yay!), so it will be really awesome to have a conclusive end to her chronicle. He said that after that he's going to start a new chronicle with cliath starting around 1990 and run it to the Apocalypse, which White Wolf announced is happening in 2004. Anyway, if it is not completely apparent, Werewolf is my most favorite tabletop RPG.

Paul and Carol left around 4am, and Mike followed at about 5am. Since it was General Conference we didn't have to wake up early, so we got up at about 2pm on Sunday, and we showered and listened to the 4th session on the internet. Then we headed out to my parents' for dinner. My parents make a lot of food on the first Sunday of every month and invite all their kids to head over for dinner. I always show, and my sibs are a hit or miss. Anyway, I gave Mike a call, because I know he loves eating at my parents, and they love having a lot of people over to feed. I think it's left over from having so many kids in their house for so long, they miss it. Turned out when I called Mike, dogdoolb was there, too, so I told Mike to bring him along. So I had a nice, relaxing evening with the parents and headed home, where I played DAoC until about 2am.

Over all, a very relaxing, enjoyable weekend.
