Weekend Update
Feb. 22nd, 2005 11:57 amFriday night we went to Glen's house and played his D&D game. The political intrigue is getting really interesting, heh. Too bad I'm really horrible at puzzles, but luckily Matt and Bob are good at them, so with their help the group should be able to figure everything out, heh.
Saturday was lazy fun day. Until about 5pm, I lazed around the house, doing pretty much nothing of importance. Then our friend Bob treated us to sushi at Tokyo One. Mmmmmm, sushi!
Saturday evening we started the Star Wars RPG that Matt's been itching to run.
finari and
narkeys are playing (it wouldn't be a game without them!) and me and Bob. Matt, of course, is running.
finari is playing a Scoundrel,
narkeys is a Jedi Guardian, Bob is a Jedi Consular, and I'm playing a wookie (heehee) Force Adept that will become a Soldier (I was going Scout but have since reconsidered) at 3rd level.
The first game was fun. Of course. Matt's games are always fun. Anyway, he started it by passing out a "Crawl." The crawl is the three paragraphs that open every Star Wars movie. He said he's going to prepare a crawl for every "episode," heh.
STAR WARS
Episode 1: Rumors of the sith
4000 years before the epic battle of Yavin; The Jedi Order, Guardians of Peace in galactic republic are few in number. However, their numbers grow under the leadership of those who will one day be known as legendary Jedi masters such as Odan-Urr. The Jedi code, set forth by master Odan-Urr is helping to stem the tide of the jedi that fall to the seductive lure of the Dark Side. Already, these new Jedi that adhere to the Code are Growing in power and mastery of the force in ways unheard of in the long History of the Order. However, these powerful conduits of the force are even more rare than the jedi knights themselves. The Republic has dire need of the jedi now, but there are few to answer the Call.
The greedy space guilds, powerful organizations dedicated to the pursuit of Personal wealth and power, are the true governments outside of the Republic's inner core Systems. Worlds that are sympathetic to the republic's ideals of mutual government, economy, and defense Are unable to act on those desires due to fear of repercussions, both financial and Martial by the guilds should they join. Many believe that the republic will at last fail; leaving a thousand worlds to slip back into the darkness of tyranny and oppression. Many whisper that the republic's faith in the Jedi has been misplaced. They whisper that the only way to break the guilds is through military operations, replacing one tyranny for another.
The Jedi Council, seeking to understand the will of the force, have sensed powerful agents of the Dark Side maneuvering behind the scenes. Recent investigations by trustworthy knights and their allies have uncovered the identity of these powerful agents, a new breed of adherents to the forbidden teachings of the sith. It seems that by Working through the masters of the guilds, the sith are recruiting from these vast organizations unwittingly dedicated to the ideals of the dark side. The sith are seeking to return and crush the republic forever. Many of the investigators that have been sent out forth into the outer rim seeking further knowledge have vanished, turned to the dark side or presumed killed . . .
I've posted my game notes on Matt's forum. Game notes are fun, heh.
Yesterday at work was crazily busy as normal but the evening was nice and lazy. We went to dinner with the mother-in-law at Buco di Beppo, then spent the rest of the evening vegging since I couldn't log into WoW. I also got to bed earlier than usual, which is good since I still have this stupid cold.
