I've been obsessing over [livejournal.com profile] padawansguide's sari Regency gown. It's so, so pretty.

Today at the thrift store I found a pale pink silk chiffon sari (? I'm terrible at fabric. It's definitely silk, though), all decorated with silver embroidery, and I bought it. It was $5. There was no way I could have passed that up. I have no idea if the wide border embroidery would be suitable for Regency, but it seems like a pretty traditional Indian design. If I had to guess, I'd say it almost definitely existed in India of the period at the least. And I love it. It's not the paisley - it's the more geometric design. Anyway, even if I decide against using the geometric border, it has a simply lovely silver embroidery throughout the length.

I just need to decide on a dress style. And a when.

After the Mandalorian. Must finish that.

I've been obsessed with the idea of a sari gown, too. I have a sari, but it's HOT FLAMING PINK and have no idea if it would be suitable. I think it's a bit crazy, even for the Bingley sisters. lol

I'm liking the idea of an Over The Top Regency event or something, heh. Then you could to flaming hot pink! Though, if you really want to anyway, I say go for it! I know you could pull it off!!

Hehe, I really want to do the Austenland picnic. I may just organize it on my own, and invite whoever wants to come, Costumers Guild or otherwise, to join in. XD I have two crazy fabric I could use for an Austenland-style dress, both of them hot pink sari fabrics. XD

I can wear my aqua Regency to an Austenland picnic. That bridal fabric is both horrible and wondrous. LOL.

Aw, thanks!

Regency sari dresses are the best! I personally love drawstring dresses - they're easy to put together, and are adjustable, and flattering. :-)

It's true, though. I STILL have your LJ entry open in a tab in my phone browser so I can go back and look at it some more and daydream. Hah!

And indeed, the drawstring dress is to love!

I don't have tooooo many of them, right? Never too many. Heck, I need to make one or two more to use as loaners. :)
