So I am kind of hating teal right now, in spite of the fact that I actually like the color. I am having the WORST luck finding a match. I went to Perth Street and went to all the stores today. I found like three color matches, but not in the fabric that I like or need. I even hit the fabric stores on Midway just north of Beltline. Still no luck. I think the next step will be to check online and order swatches. Boohiss.

Good thing I started on my functional mock up for my noir Regency so at least I'll have something new to wear on Saturday. Currently it is white, but I think I might dye it to a pale blue. We'll see.

Oh no! I wish I had a suggestion for you, but I think you've hit all the fabric stores that I know of, other than Fabrique (which is usually stupidly expensive). Finding a color like that is so hard.

I did find ONE bridal shiny satin that was a really close match, but I so wanted a silk. :-/ So now I have the dilemma: do I compromise and get the shiny satin, or try to find something I like online... I guess I need to see if there were shiny Regency dresses. I never looked for that specifically before. /sigh Because really, my options seem to be a regency dress in a fabric less than ideal, OR a traditional bridesmaid dress.

What would you do??

They did have shiny satin dresses. There are a few on my pin board: http://www.pinterest.com/festiveattyre/thank-god-it-s-not-white-and-poofy-regency-gowns/

I think I'd go ahead and make it in the satin. I'd rather have a not-perfect Regency dress than a modern dress.

Ok, cool. I was strongly leaning that way, myself! Cuz.... modern bridesmaid dresses are just not my thing, and I'd STILL be out the $100+ with a dress I'd only wear once. So I've ordered some swatches, and if I can't find anything that I love by Friday, I'll go back and get that bridal satin.

So I won't have my shiny new dress by Saturday (obviously), but I'll keep plugging away at my functional mock-up, which hopefully will be done for our party. :) White again, but hey. It'll be pretty!

I followed your tip and went to Fabrique and they had one satin that was a match, but it was just bridal satin for like $20 a yard. So I ordered some bridal satin from Fabric.com instead, that's like half a shade light and $6.50/yard. I had showed a swatch to my friend, who almost scoffed that I was actually clearing it with her, heh. Turns out that, yes, we're all in aqua/turquoise or whatever it is, but one is wearing a chiffon dress, and the other a metallicy-type taffeta, so we're already not matching, really, anyway! Whew.

I'm a bit sad I couldn't find the perfect silk, but it is what it is. I'll love this dress anyway, I think!
