jaelieWell, Matt and I went to Fort Wayne, Indiana this past weekend for an open house for one of our main distributors. Woot. Talk about colossal waste of time. There were about three hundred retailers there that we schmoozed with, which was, sure, ok. I'm not much of a schmoozer, with my chronic shyness and all. Bleh. Gotta hate stepping out of that comfort zone. Ah, well.
I think the worst part of the open house was the fact that we were there talking up our company, but we couldn't talk up the fact that they can buy direct from us, rather than through a middleman. Also, most of the people I spoke with were already fans and carrying our stuff, so we didn't hook new sales, anyway. So I had to talk about other things, like the various services we offer retailers, such as product support, returns, event support, etc.
On the up side, we got to go out and see a new place. Travel is always fun, especially when it is for business AND you can take your spouse with ya. We also visited the actual fort at Fort Wayne, and that was cool. Matt, of course, was thrilled to see it because it'll help him come up with different ideas on fortifications for his games or what ever hobby happens to catch his eye.
