Update: Soccer Game, Etc
Sep. 27th, 2007 11:47 amThu 9/20: So, on Thursday of last week, Matt and I went to the FC Dallas soccer game (football to all my overseas friends!). Matt 'splained the game really well in his LJ post, so I won't go over it in detail, but the quick summary is it was a rivalry game for the Brimstone Cup between FC Dallas and the Chicago Fire, that ended in a tie. Since FC Dallas had the cup last year, they got to keep it.
We met up there with several of our friends - Todd, Scott S and Yvonne S (and of course their one-year-old twin daughters), and had a great time cheering our team on. Yay!
Of course, me, being super obsessed with costuming, I started immediately thinking about what kind of costume I could make for a soccer game.
This is where my costuming friends come in - I need to find a bustle-era dress that has horizontal stripes.
As an FC Dallas fan, I have to go with red and white horizontal stripes. I know, it has the potential of being terribly gaudy. ^_~ The dress doesn't have to be completely stripy. Well placed horizontal stripes would be sufficient. So, if any of you historical costuming gurus have seen images of bustle era dresses with horizontal stripes, could you point me in that direction?
Fri 9/21: Friday, Matt wrenched his upper back/neck really badly so we spent the evening at home with him on pain killers and cold packs. We laid around and watched movies and such.
Sat 9/22: Saturday morning I went up to the church for a teacher training class. Learned some good stuff. Then I went home, where my sis and the Lex were waiting for me. We spent the day playing with the boy, watching movies and chatting. Beautiful stuff, that.
Sun 9/23: Sunday was it's normal mellowness, with church and relaxation. Matt started feeling a lot better by Sunday evening, too. Yay!
Mon 9/24: Monday was work, then pizza at Eric's and movie fun on his huge TV and beautiful surround sound.
Tue 9/25: After work, I chilled at home with the honey and played WoW til we got punted by the server. Then we watched Karate Kid. Heh.
Yesterday and today, work and normality. I hooked up with
elizagoth on DAOC, since she got me the software and put quarters in. Holy smokes I am so rusty with that UI. Tonight, gaming with the friends! Whee!
