Thu 8/30: After work, I ran home and packed while waiting for Matt. As soon as he got home, we headed out for the eve of our four day vacation. Whee! We headed for the Lake and a visit with [livejournal.com profile] tempest_sky and her hubby. She and I spent some quality girl time visiting in what used to be her haven but has become the nursery. She picked a beautiful shade of green for it, too. After we chatted for a bit, we sprayed down with bug spray and ran outside for an evening cart ride. She and Tim showed us the water lines on the trees, which was insane. We stayed the night at their house.

Fri 8/31: Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] sahve!

That morning had us all out on the carts again for more rides around the boat club. The water lines were more visible, but it is still so beautiful and peaceful out there. After the cart ride, we made our usual trip to BecArt, where I picked up some goodies as usual. We left around lunch time. I was sad to go - I didn't get enough time with tempest_sky, especially after realizing it has been a full year since I'd actually seen her and Tim. We'll have to go up again, or have her and Tim down to visit us! ^_^

After we left the Lake, we drove to Tulsa. We arrived at [livejournal.com profile] lance_work and [livejournal.com profile] nettework's in the afternoon and went straight to work on the roof - Matt went up and I started picking up shingles. After dark, we chilled and visited. I was able to spend a little time with the girls. Holy smokes they're growing up! Aleis, who is six, is reading and comprehending at a fourth grade level. She is as cute and precocious as ever, and very much the Big Sister. Charissa is still quiet and sweet and beautiful with her curly fiery hair and big blue eyes. Riley is going to be the handful. I can tell even though she's only two and a half. They are doing such a good job at raising their girls!

Sat 9/1: Happy birthday, [livejournal.com profile] efkelley!

Saturday, I picked up probably a ton (literally) of shingles, getting a great work out in the process. I probably drank two gallons of water, too. Around 1pm we took the shingles to the dump as the trailer was full and the dump was about to close. It took four people a full hour to empty that thing. When we got back, I picked up more shingles until late afternoon. I was TIRED, so I went inside and rested and worked on my cap, which I'm hand sewing (I'll have a "dress" diary for it as soon as I get the pictures off my camera. Heh). After dark, lance_work and nettework treated us to dinner at the Olive Garden. Mmm. Food.

Sun 9/2: Sunday morning had us at church in Owasso, OK, where lance_work and nettework's friends' baby was being blessed. After the service, I met someone from Denton, one of the Biggs' clan who is up there going to law school. We headed back and got back to work on the roof, as the ox was well and truly in the mire. Rain was predicted for the upcoming week and we had to get that roof DONE. Lots of people from their church and school came to help on all four days. It was really neat to see people come together like that to help.

Mon 9/3: Monday morning the roof was finished! Whee! Matt picked up the valuable skill of roofing (in spite of the fact that he's afraid of heights, too).

Oh, yeah. It was my birthday, too. Happy birthday, self!

We cleaned up and started our trek home around noon. However, I managed to take the "scenic" route, when I forgot that 75 in Texas is 69 in Oklahoma. Whoops. Luckily Oklahoma's 75 went south, so I knew we'd hit a road we recognized at some point or another. Luckily for me, I was stuck in the car with my best friend, so we talked about all kinds of different things and got home all the same. When we got to Denton, we stopped at a bookstore and re-purchased 1632 series by Eric Flint, as we'd lost/misplaced/loaned our copies. We spent the rest of the evening reading.

Tues 9/4: Tuesday morning had me back at work. I had my weekly lunch with efkelley, and after work I chilled out and got to reading the 1632 series again.

Wed 9/5: Wednesday, life is back to normal.
