Ah, the rain.

I didn't want to get up this morning. When I realized that it was raining, I knew that was why. Curled up in my warm bed, cuddled up next to my warm husband. The steady thrum of the rain was interrupted by the radio as it turned on with its daily wake-up routine. I love the sound of the rain.

Of course, when I opened the door to let the hound out, I realized it was sheets of rain rather than just "rain." There was a bright flash of lightning followed very closely by the thunder, too. So lovely.

I was late to work (only four minutes, but for a punctual person like me, that's still late). I can still hear the rain on the roof of the shop. It's a beautiful, relaxing sound. Mm. Rain.

I can't help but wonder how much more water Lake Lewisville can handle. Which makes me think of Lake Texoma. I hope everything is ok up there, [livejournal.com profile] tempest_sky.

Earlier in the year I was contracting in an office next to a river, the weather was really bad, and a load of stuff burst it's banks further upstream and caused the water level to rise rather alarmingly, over the course of the day we watched the water rise from just below the towpath to above the railings alongside the canal. At one point I was half convinced I'd need a canoe to get home!

We didn't get any of the rain you guys did. All the rain stayed north and south of us. We got lots o thunder & lightening...little rain. BUT...that doesn't mean the lake's watersheds didn't get any. *_* But we're close enough to normal levels again...hopefully we'll be okay here.

You're close to Texoma? I graduated from Denison High School, and my parents live about 3 miles from the lake/river. We went up earlier this summer to see the spillway go over...

I hear ya! I did not want to crawl out of bed when I heard the rain on the window and the soft thunder rolling in the distance. That’s good sleeping weather or reading a good book kind of thing not a drive in traffic to work kind of day.
