jaelie: (Rain)

So, you know the rain is bad when there are about a dozen of those big National Guard trucks parked around the county's emergency facility building right next door to my workplace. Yeah. Some green camo ones, some tan ones, tanks marked "potable water," all that stuff. There are National Guard people standing around in their desert camos, too.

It's not that I mind the rain or grayness of each day. I actually like it. We haven't had a 100 F (37.7 C) day yet, and for June in Texas, that's pretty remarkable. But unfortunately, our region is not equipped to handle the amount of water that is falling on us.

At least my house is on high ground, in a fairly well drained area. My back yard is a swamp with knee-high grass, though. Heh.

Watching the news... We've had double the rain in June this year than June-August of last.

Just had the image of you and Matt and the dog all sleeping soundly with those little water floaty things they put on kids arms to help them stay up.

Yeah, my whole yard is a swamp, and the mosquitos are so big that you can feel it as soon as they try to bite you. They're huge! Not many get away, though, cause they're easy to see and not that fast. Your poor pooch, though, better protect him.
