Last week progressed as normal with only one hiccup at work that was smoothed over. The Thursday game is going great but Friday's game was cancelled.
Saturday started with a bang, though. I rolled out of bed nice and late (like 10am) and headed over to Hancock's to watch a sewing machine demo to see if I wanted one. Well, I did. The price was right, and with Matt sewing now, we needed two machines - especially since we both always want to sew at the same time. So we picked up a Singer CG500. There were two other commercial grade models but we decided on the base one. Here's to hoping it lasts us a long, long time!

After Hancock's, I headed into Dallas for the DFWCG class - we had a really neat class on bobbin lace making. It was fascinating. Heh. When I first heard about the class subject, I was like "Meh, I'll go, but it isn't something I'm really interested in." Even when I got there, I was still pretty neutral. Then she had us sit down and actually do some very basic stitches (or whatever they're called), and I was fascinated. She recommended a book, which I think I'm going to get. I'm not sure when I'll actually start making my own lace, but the class was totally worth my time. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
After the class, Matt and I headed to Justin for our Star Wars game, which imploded with the three character deaths of the Jedi. Sheesh.
Turns out that one of the player character jedi gave in to the lure of the Dark Side (he was less powerful than the other two jedi and was often the subject of jokes due to his... lack of competence). So anyway, his character sabotaged our ship and fled on a speeder bike, but in the process of his fleeing he made so much noise that he accidentally alerted us that something was up. So while three of us were running to our stations, the two other jedi and the rodian took off in hot pursuit.
Well, Loh (the traitor PC) disabled the shields on our ship, and suddenly an enemy ship was upon us, firing. We took some pretty major hits, but were able to damage and crash the attacker with the judicious use of the twin ion cannons. Then we took off after Loh, too, but in our YT1300.
Anyway, the other two jedi, Kordren and Aelmich, caught up to Loh, who summarily cut Kordren down. Then there was some dialog with Aelmich, when the actual enemy showed up and killed Aelmich. The ship took care of Loh and the actual enemy with its guns and that was that. People on foot, or speeder bikes, don't last long against a ship's guns.
The thing is I think we could have easily taken the actual enemy had we approached the encounter as a group. But we were all split up (half on the ground, half in the ship) and we had an extra enemy to deal with in the other player character. Ah, well. There was a bit of drama afterwards, as no one likes their character to die. But the player of Loh is new to RPGs, so I think he learned from this experience.
Sunday was mellow, etc, exactly like I like them, and today back to work. Whee!

was wondering what exactly happened
Date: 2007-06-11 05:30 pm (UTC)Will there be a new game now, or will the PRC soldier on?
Re: was wondering what exactly happened
Date: 2007-06-11 05:34 pm (UTC)I think there were some hard feelings, but hopefully not lasting. Character death always sucks, but when another player is responsible and it wasn't the vagaries of the game or a dramatic impact for story...
