Update: Friends, Guns, and Gaming, oh my!
Sep. 12th, 2005 01:01 pmMy brother Rob called at some point last week and we had a good, long chat. I am so excited about them moving back! I can't believe Kyrie is already almost NINE years old! Hm.... They'll be back right around her birthday. I think Matt and I ought to put together a jedi outfit for her or something. I'm pretty sure we bought enough material to make both his and a miniature version...
Friday had the girls over, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Matt cooked up some yummy thai food for us and was generally a good sport about the invasion. ^_^ We seemed to really move along in the plot, and
lolafae and
tempest_sky both got to do a cool simulation where they chose one set of three from five different sets of tarot cards. Only the storyteller knows why! (I can guess, though, heh)
[edit] By the way,
lolafae, I think your hubby was super sweet (not to mention totally awesome) to clean up your place in the expectation that we were coming. Even though we weren't there, I really appreciated the thought, and it makes me feel so truly welcome for the next time we're there. If you would, could you give him a big thank you from me?
Saturday morning we went shooting with Kevin and Sarah, and I spent a lot of time on the nifty little training pistol that Matt traded for me. I actually really enjoyed myself, although I have a current attention span of about two hours for shooting. Maybe it'll get longer, since I know Matt could shoot all day and thoroughly enjoy himself the whole time. My first 30 rounds were way off, but I didn't do too poorly once we got the pistol sighted in. At least I pretty much always at least hit the target, heh. And actually, my last 30 rounds or so were grouped pretty well.
I'm still pretty decent with a rifle, too. I really need to concentrate on the pistol, though, if I want to work towards my CHL. So practice practice with the lil Walther P22, and work on my grip strength. If I'm going to carry a personal side arm, I want to be able to carry my M1911 Colt Compact Commander. It's so pretty! Not to mention all the work that Matt's father put into it tweaking it out for me.
Saturday afternoon we ran over to Cheaper Than Dirt in north Fort Worth (maybe actually Saginaw), and from there back home, where our friends Kevin and Sarah cleaned their gun with Matt. I took a badly needed nap, although it was too short. That evening we went over to Glen and Jeanette's house for, yes, you guessed it, some D&D.
After the game, our friend Mark followed us home and dropped off a 36" TV. Whee! It doesn't pick up any broadcast television, but since Matt and I pretty much only watch movies, it is perfect for us. Now I just have to find a place to put it, heh. Right now, it's set up in the dining area on the go-go-gadget table.
Matt's birthday present to me was a Tudor court gown. I just picked out my fabrics, too. Because I know he loves me in pink and since it's his present to me, that's the primary color, heh. I'll have it in six to eight weeks. Whee! I <3 my husband (of course). :)
