So I didn't get to be selfish this weekend. Instead I only got to be somewhat selfish. Saturday morning I went to the pasture and played with horses for about an hour, then I headed out to the farm. She needs all the hands she can get, as we're tearing off the old siding from her house and putting new siding up.
On Saturday, my brother-in-law Nick was there with his family. It was fun watching the little monkeys help, heh. We got about a quarter of the house done on Saturday and Sunday, then wrapped the rest of the torn up parts in plastic. Good thing, too, considering the rain today.
I'm sore in places where I knew in theory must have muscles. I have blisters and scratches on my hands. But on the very positive side, I got a thorough workout, heh, and worked on my grip, so shooting my .45 should be a little easier.
Yesterday, I was able to spend the first half of the day with my parents, then I headed back out to the farm. We got about three more panels up (Saturday we spend most of the day tearing down), which wasn't bad considering I got there around 3pm. I hate working on ladders.
This morning I was awoken by a long, loud thunder crack. There's nothing that will make me want to snuggle back into my warm bed quite like a thunder storm and the sound of rain pelting my window. 'Course, I've never experienced real snow or a blizzard, but thunder storms, they're beautiful.
Shel is supposed to come by my work today and pick up a house key, but I'm not so sure she'll actually move today with all the rain. I cleaned out her room last night. I need to clean the garage. I guess I should have said that I shifted mess from her room to the garage, heh. If it's not raining this evening, I'll be putting quite a pile out for the trash collectors.
And in two weeks we'll have another guest staying for a week, but she'll be staying in the TV room, which also (surprise, surprise) needs to be straightened up a bit.
At work, since I'm on the second floor, I can hear the rain hitting the roof.
I think maybe I'll put Nora Jones on and enjoy the sounds of the thunder storm while I work...
