Parties for geeks!
Apr. 29th, 2004 05:16 pmI am such a wallflower geek.
I had an invite to the Picses party. I knew it was going to be quite the, uh, lively party. When the evening in question came along, I was laying on my couch reading a book. I felt too lazy to bother. When I thought about going, I realized there would be a lot of strangers there, and was completely unenthused about that. I can be social when necessary, but my default setting is definitely introverted. Part of me thinks I should have gone for at least a little while, but the other part of me knows I would have felt uncomfortable and out of place.
On the other hand, the first weekend in June, there's going to be another party. I am totally stoked for it.
Why is that? I know exactly why. Because the majority of the attendees at that party will be gamers like me. Not all are introverts, but we will all have our geeky games to talk about when the conversation lags. Heck, I know that most of the conversation will be about games, and I'm looking forward to it.
::sigh::
Yep.
I'm a geek.
