Monday Evening Sutures...
Nov. 8th, 2006 08:19 amSo, I had an exciting Monday. Matt and I were planning on rigging up a quickie, temporary gun cart for our next SASS shoot, so after work we head over to the Hardware Store. We walk down the aisles and such, looking at different parts, and on our way over to look at the dowels, we round a corner and I stub my toe. Nothing new there. I'm a klutz.
Ouch! I think. That smarts!
I look down and what do I see? Oh, blood. Whoops. Because not only am I a klutz, I am wearing my standard footwear, the Mighty Comfortable Flip-Flop. So I crouch down to apply pressure, and when I realize just how much blood there is I lift my hands to check out the damage. And yeah. My stomach does a flip-flop all on its own and I immediately re-apply pressure.
The next half hour is spent with people running all over the place helping me and Matt cleaning my nifty little wound up. We also establish fairly quickly that I am in fact going to need stitches. I hate hospitals and almost chicken out. I mean, I could call my mom and she could come down and rescue me with some really good butterfly bandages. She's good at that. Her mother was a nurse with nine children (Mom being the second), and my mom herself having six of her own really prepared her for silliness like this.
However, we have insurance now, so Matt insists. He's driving anyway, so I don't have much say, really, and thinking about it, it is high time for a renewal of that good ole tetanus shot.
I don't like hospitals. And local anesthetics hurt. They poke you a lot for that. On your wound. Although, it is better than them just stitching me up with out it. Owie.
So, in the great case of Jay's Little Toe vs Tin Roofing, I think Tin Roofing came out with a solid victory.
But I did get to miss a day of work.
